I have many years experience designing (and building web sites). Whether its starting from scratch with the design or taking a design created by a designer into a working web site. Technologies used including CSS, HTML, CSS and PHP.
Once a web site is built, it will need to be updated. WordPress is the most popular content management system to allow users to update the web site themselves. The last count was about 60% of all web sites with a content management system used WordPress. This works out about 23% of all web sites. I have designed and built many WordPress web sites.
More people are now viewing web sites on their mobile devices, whether its a tablet or smartphone. This means its even more important for the viewing experience to be as good on a mobile device as on a desktop. Google recently updated so that mobile friendly sites rank higher in searches.
When the web site is built, its important that people actually find it. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of improving your website’s visibility over time. When building a web site, I carry out the usual good SEO practices on all pages. This will allow for your site to rank higher in search engines like Google and Bing and drive more traffic to your web site.
Most of my work nowadays is involving WordPress. I have created bespoke WordPress web sites which I have designed (or design has been provided) and I have turned it into a working web site. I have also worked with themes which have been purchased and needed setting up.
Other WordPress jobs involve maintaining existing sites and re-designs.
As mentioned, I have been building and designing web sites for many years. I have built all sites from simple "brochure" style web sites, dynamic database sites to eCommerce web sites. Since I started, its changed a lot. Web sites were much simpler and you were certainly not able to view web sites on your mobile phone. This is now changed and building mobile friendly web sites is very important. Updating the web site has always been important. If clients needed an update, it was either a case of contacting the web designer or having some sort of content management system. The most popular one nowadays is called WordPress. It allows clients to update the web site themselves but it also gives the ability for web designers to build web sites with more functionality without the need for bespoke development. This saves time and saves the client money.
I was in need of a new company website to replace the very dated and slow one we used, not being very techie myself I needed some help. Andrew was recommended to me by Manchester IT, we met up and we agreed that a WordPress website would be suitable.
From that day Andrew made sure everything went smoothly, nothing was too much trouble. From choosing the theme, pictures and transferring everything over, he constantly kept me up to date by email. Not only did he do a fabulous job, he's actually a really nice guy and a joy to work with. The cost of his services are very competitive and I would have no hesitation in recommending him.
