GM MonkeysSun 30 April 2006 - New kit

Written by Richard Chan

After much waiting Kin and Kin Ho have finally got us the team kit. When it was "announced" by taking the box out of Kin's car boot like a dodgy Delboy-esqe sale, Kin Ho complained for about 10 minutes how the numbers didn't match up and the kits were delivered to the incorrect address, and the manager didn't phone him back or something.

Anyway it's arrived and it feels like we are a proper team now instead of feeling a bit mismatched wearing slightly different coloured shirts. It seems we have opted for a blue kit. In our previous matches with other teams, we've not really had a colour. We've just tried to play in white or dark tops.

The kit has cost Kin a small fortune upfront, and he is expecting to be paid. Otherwise Kin has been prompt in reminding us that he will break our legs with a crowbar if we don't pay some money.

Kin has been kind enough to allow us to choose the numbers we would like. The selections so far are:

2 - Andy Wan
3 - (unclaimed)
4 - Rob
5 - Simon Ung
6 - Ming
7 - KenC
8 - Andy Yee
9 - Simon Li
10 - Chris
11 - Kin
12 - (unclaimed)
13 - Chat
14 - Dave
15 - Richard Chan

Some of the number selections are undoubtedly relating to other famous players who wear those numbers. I presume Rob has chosen Number 4 because of Sami Hyypiä from Liverpool. I think KenC has choosen Number 7 because of Robert Pirès from Arsenal. And Number 15? Well that was chosen for me by Kin. Apparently I'm going to be Fabregas of Arsenal. It says on uefa.com "Fabregas is a brilliant passer of the ball with an eye for goal". That does not sound like me if truth be told!

20 Feb 2006 - Spring Matches

After some practice before Christmas and just after the new year, GM Monkeys is ready for some friendly matches.

Sunday 26th February is the first match with FC Wirral. This will take place at Hough End in Manchester. It will be a tough match for GM Monkeys as FC Wirral get a lot more practice in and they have much more experience in playing full matches.

Sunday 5th March will be next match with Nemesis [of Chester], another loosely based BBC based team. They also have very good players. Sometime last year GM Monkeys (or the team which is now known as GM Monkeys) played them and got quite a bashing. Hopefully this year it may be possible to give them a better run for their money.
