Adobe buy Macromedia

Thursday, April 21st, 2005

Adobe MacromediaAdobe have bought Macromedia for $3.4billion. Not a bad deal!!

This could be a good thing or a bad thing. We will not see properly till about a year or so. The chances are all the products will be intergrated together. It could be seen also that maybe Adobe are getting rid of their main competition.

It could also mean the end to Macromedia products such as Freehand, Fireworks and GoLive. It is almost certainly the end of GoLive because Dreamweaver (Macromedia) is a far superior product. Photoshop is more well known for editing images. Fireworks having is more geared towards the web. However, Adobe have ImageReady so it will be interesting to see what happens. I just hope they don’t ruin the Macromedia products and end up only enhancing the products.

Party!!!

Monday, April 11th, 2005

PartyOn the 9th April met up with some friends to celebrate someones birthday. We went for a Thai buffet meal in Pacific in Manchester, Chinatown. It was pretty nice. Afterwards we made our way to the AMC Cinema to see The Ring Two. I had not seen the first Ring movie or the Japanese versions of The Ring. Unfortunately the film was crap – even me who doesnt really like scary movies was not scared. It was just so obvious when ‘scary’ things were going to happen. Actually some parts of it were unintentionally funny. After the movie, and some discussion about what we could do a couple hours before heading to the house party we decided to go bowling in the Trafford Centre. We managed a couple games. During the first game, the Norwich v United match was on the screens next to the scores. With United losing my performance with the bowling got worse and worse!! I just couldn’t believe how poor United were. The match finished (United lost :( ) and for the second game I actually did better – using a bit of anger to throw the ball down the lane!! I think my score was 124 which was not too bad (not played for ages).

After bowling we headed to the house party in Liverpool. Some people were following me since they did not know the way – we actually had more trouble getting out of the Trafford Centre carpark as we did getting all the way to Liverpool!!

The house party was really good – we arrived fashionably late at about 9. After a few drinks, the karoake was started. I seemed to be on it on night till about 4am – my throat was killing me by the end. We ended up singing the usual cheesy songs – Bon Jovi, some boy band songs and Britney songs – not cool at all but oh well!

The following morning ppl starting waking about 11 – we watched some MTV – Pimp my ride and Motormouth and had a good laugh at it. Everyone who stayed overnight and a few others all went to Tai Pan for some food – it all tasted really good – just what was needed :) It was actually a really sunny and pretty warm day – we went to Albert Dock and enjoyed the sun – it was a bit windy but it was alright. We all then headed home – I got back home at about 7. I was going to sleep but ended up watching TV – Air Force One was on TV again for like the 1000th time. I also watched the repeat of the Playing It Straight program – an interesting program – basically women thinks shes on some normal dating reality show – it turns out some of the men are gay but she doesnt know who. If she picks a gay guy he gets £100,000; if she picks a straight guy they share £100k.
