Is it wise to take Rooney??

Saturday, May 27th, 2006

RooneyRooney’s latest scan showed that his injury is healing but he will need another scan in 3 weeks time. If all is well then he will be free to start full training. This would mean he has 10 days to get match fit.

Even then its unlikely he will be totally 100% fit. One thing is, if England do really well and get to the quarter finals then would we want to add Rooney to the time and disrupt the team.

I think Sven should not pick Rooney and pick another striker. We are really short of strikers. Walcott is really in-experienced, Owen could get injured in any second and Crouch is exactly an out and out striker. If he does wants to take Rooney he should really take another striker i.e. Defoe who is on his standby list and get rid of Hargreves.

Sorry Rooney!

Also speaking as a United fan, if Rooney gets injured he could be out injured even longer. If he is rushed back from injury then it could effect him long-term.

Tempting fate!!!

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

BecksThe FA have pencilled in the England victory parade for July 11. This is two days after the final. Lets hope there right but its tempting fate just abit!!!

In other World Cup news, Rooney has the scan tomorrow. D-Day!!! Hopefully it wil show some substantial healing. FIFA have asked England to announce by Tuesday whether its likely Rooney will be in the squad or not. With or without Rooney we still have a great chance.

The FA has refused to confirn all this.

Several England players visited the Wembley stadium today and bought work to a halt. Well done!! There already miles behind schedule – thats all they need!!

Hard Rock! Hallelujah!

Sunday, May 21st, 2006

LordiWatched Eurovision last night and it was suprisingly entertaining.

There were some truly awful songs. Latvia was really odd – some strange acapella song which had the ‘singers’ just making some noises!

The Finland song was great – it was a ‘horror rock’ band called Lordi. They were dressed like they were in some horror b-movie. The lead singer had bat wings and his microphone had a toy axe taped to it.

The Germany song was surprisingly OK – some sort of country song. I also liked the Ukraine one and 1 or 2 others were ‘better than crap’.

I heard some of the songs on Radio 1 last week and as soon as i heard the Finland song I knew it could win. I just put a small bet Each-way at 10/1. During the show it changed to 6/1. I wish I put a bit more money on now. Ended up winning about £10.

As usual a lot of the voting was very political. The ‘big 4 countries’ didnt get in the top 10 – this was UK, Spain, France and Germany. Spain was really bad so no surprise. Frances was rather slow but not too bad. Like I said Germany was pretty good. The UK one wasnt really good – some strange rap song by a Mancunian called Daz Sampson.

The Luthuania one was an interesting one – it was called “We are the winners” and was like a football chant and they just seemed to sing “We are the winners” and “Vote for us”. How smug!! It would have been good if they got no points but they ended about 6th.

One thing which was really annoying (as usual) were the presenters. They were truly awful. They said “amazing” every other sentence for a start.

Barcelona playersBarcelona beat Arsenal 2-1 and not without controversy. Lehman was sent off after bringing down Eto. After bringing brought down Barcelona then scored.

I think it would have been good for the game if it stayed 11 v 11 and allowed the goal. However Lehman did bring Eto down so you cant argue too much about him being sent off. Upto then Arsenal were the better time.

Arsenal took the lead with Campbell from a Henry freekick. Arsenal should not have got the freekick after Eboue dived.

It took awhile till Barca scored as Arsenal started to tire, but they scored a couple games in quick succession. The 2 subs for Barca were involved.

There is much talk about what the future is for Henry. I was thinking if Arsenal won there was a big chance he would leave. However, thinking about it maybe he is more likely to stay and now and want to win it with Arsenal. He did an interview right after the match and was really disappointed and said the best team did NOT win etc. He was complaining about the ref not being as supportive to Arsenal as he was for Barcelona.

I personally wanted Barcelona to win. Maybe I am a bitter United fan. People say should support Arsenal in the final because they are the English/British team. It will be good for English football etc. Why is it good for English football!??! For a start for most of the Champions League they played no English players. In the final there were only 2 English players.

I hope Henry stays. I think he is a fantastic player and won be a big loss to the Premiership. After the match he said something about the ref questionning if he really had a Barcelona shirt on and about maybe he should start diving more. He also complained about the first Barcelona goal being offside. Seeing the replays afterwards it was very very close. He was passed the last player but there was no “daylight” between the players – which apparently there should be. Arsene Wenger for once able to see it on the pitch – normally he cant see fouls by his players right in front of him by suddenly he can see 50 yards away!!

If I was an Arsenal fan (god forbid!!) I would be very disappointed with that decision (and of course the final result).

The big match

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Tomorrow night is the Champions League final between Barcelona and Arsenal.

I hope its a good match – like the FA Cup final. I want Barce to win – mainly because I hate Arsenal!! However, I do want Henry to stay in the Premiership – it would be a big loss without Henry in the premiership.

One of the linesman for the match has been changed because he wore a Barcelona top for some photoshoot. LOL
