Nikki leaves Big Brother

Monday, July 17th, 2006

NikkiNot really been watching Big Brother this year. I started watching the start but then the World Cup starts. Been watching bits and pieces and not keen on the idea of all these new people in.

Once again the British public have got rid of the most entertaining people. Nikki left on Friday – like I said I havent seen loads of it but she was really entertaining and funny. Her tantrums were brilliant. They should have voted out Susie who from what I heard just seems to drink tea and make tea all day.

You can see the interview Nikki had with Davina on youtube – based on the highlights she was a great housemate. Part 1 | Part 2

Jennifer AnistonOne of my favourite shows ever Friends may be coming back for a one-off special. There were rumours a few months ago but there are more rumours again. The show finished in 2004. She said all this in an interview with Richard and Judy.

“The only thing I can think of doing is maybe for fun doing a Thanksgiving episode,” she said.

Ronaldo – staying or going??

Thursday, July 13th, 2006

RonaldoDepending on which paper you read and on what day you get different stories – one day he wants to leave, the next he doesnt.

Its hard to believe any but I really hope he stays. He is a highly talented footballer no matter what anyone says.

In the mirror today he says he wants to stay and face the premiership fans. If he is worried about the reaction he will get with the booing he may have got this no matter where he was. The was evident from the 2 games Portugal played after the game versus England. Of course most of the booing would have been England fans but it was from lots of people.

In other world cup news, just to show how daft the FIFA world cup rankings are – England have gone up 5 places to 5th!?!?!

Zidane says sorry

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

ZidaneZinedine Zidane has said sorry but does not regret his headbutting of Materazzi.

(Click here to have a look at the headbutt again – BBC Sport pundits talk about it)

He spoke on TV and alleged that Materazzi provoked him by insulting both his mother and sister.

“It was inexcusable. I apologise,” “But I can’t regret what I did because it would mean that he was right to say all that.”

Several newspapers have got lip readers to find out what the players said and it varies between each newspaper.

Radio Five Live have the translation as: She deciphered the insult as being “you’re the son of a terrorist whore”

According to the BBC Ten O Clock News: Materazzi told Zidane to “calm down” before accusing him of being a “liar” and wished “an ugly death to you and your family”. This was followed by “Go f*** yourself”

The BBC report says some people now think of Zidane as a flawed genius. Many of the best footballers ever are ‘flawed’ – the few that spring to mind – Eric Cantona, Maradona, George Best.

FIFA are going to investigate and properly spend thousands finding out what we already know. Materazzi said something which upset Zidane who headbutted him. Wonder how long it takes for them to figure that out!!

Materazzi is not exactly an angel himself and has been sent off loads of times and has commited loads of terrible fouls. Check some here. Materazzi says he did not insult his mother or sister.

Who do you believe???

Zidane Headbutt

Tuesday, July 11th, 2006

ZidaneSince Zidane’s moment of madness there has been plenty of news coverage and Internet animation and games. Still find it bizarre that he is some sort of hero for his headbutting and not many people condorning him. No matter what provocation he should know better. However he does her a bad side to him and has headbutted a player before (several years ago) and has received several red cards – I think I red 14 red cards somewhere – not sure if this is true. All these people saying its out of character don’t know about him that much!

Here are some of the online animations/games.

World Cup 2006

Monday, July 10th, 2006

CannavaroThe world cup overall his been a little disappointment – its just been ‘ok’. The first group stages were excellent. However once it got to the knockout stage it was a bit dull (although it did have the best game in the tournament – Germany v Italy). Evidence of this is the Match of the day top 10 goals – 9 of them were from the group stages.

Also there were not outstanding performances really. Ronaldinho was very disappointing. Other major disappointments were Frank ’2nd best player in the world’ Lampard, Ronaldo, Adriano, Ibrahimovic, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and to some extent Thierry Henry

There were some excellent performances – Cannavaro was brilliant, Gattuso and Pirlo were excellent in the Italian midfield aswell.

In other world cup stuff, an England player has finally critised Sven. Owen has had a go at his tactics in particular the lone striker. About time!! However the players must take some responsibility for not performing!
