Kevin Spendaline

Kevin Federline, Britney Spears’ husband has apparently been signed up by Sony BMG. This will be shocking news to anyone who had the mis-fortune of hearing his rap on the Teen Choice awards. Of course this has nothing to do with fellow redneck wife Britney being on the same label. Also, its been reported that he will be staring in an episode of CSI. His character is a “menacing, arrogant teen” (so he should have no problem there).

In other news about waste of space celebrities, Paris Hilton asked for £350,000 to appear on Charlotte Church’s new show. Charlotte quite rightly said no. Shes not exactly going to be that interesting and will just promote her album – which is selling really poorly!! :) Its sold 75,000 copies so far (don’t know how its done that) compared to Christina Aguilera’s which has sold 320,000 (and has been out for a few weeks).

Little Chris Moyles show

Little Chris Moyles showRecently on the Chris Moyles show they have a part where they all talk to each other in chipmunk style voices. They all become little versions of themselves e.g. Little Dave, Little Dom.

Someone has taken the audio from one of the ’sketches’ and the podcast and created a very funny animation. (Video below).

United win again

GiggsUnited continue to win (we beat Watford 2-1) – we didn’t play quite as well as the previous 2 games but still won. Giggs once again played brilliantly – hes like a good wine (not that I like wine!!) – he just gets better and better. Its just a shame that there is a 2 week break now for the International games.

At least it will give some players time to recover from injury e.g. Neville. The transfer window closes tomorrow and there are lots of rumours about which players will go where – it does look though that United will not buy anyone. Rossi will go to Newcastle on a loan till Jan 1st 2007. That would mean only 4 strikers – Saha, Rooney, Ole and Smith. This would put pressure on Saha to score lots. Rooney is not an “out and out” striker and Smith is not fully fit. Ole should do a good job for us if he gets a good run in the team.

The FA know F.A.

The FA chief has said that the appointment of Sven was not an expensive mistake. He’s talking out of his as*!! Sven got England to the quarter finals in 3 tournaments with supposedly the golden generation. He was paid £25m in 5 years and is still being paid now. Apparently he is still being paid about £13k a day!!! If he doesnt get another job the FA will pay him £3.2m!

KeaneIn other news, United legend Keane has become Sunderland manager. Very surprising. Keane was a great player and hopefully for him will be a great manager. He has said since being appointed that his temper has properly effected his International and United career. He has said sorry to Sir Alex and his new chairman Niall Quinn.

In other United news Ronaldo has said he is very happy to stay at United. Great news!!

A few days ago the umpire for the England v Pakistan game offered to resign in exchange for $500,000!!! OMG!! How cheeky is that. He has since said he has had time to think about it and regrets sending the email – I guess thats OK then!!

In other sport news the France football team manager has said he will Makelele could get a 2 game club ban if he doesnt play for France. Makelele recently came out of retirement of international football to help France in the world cup. Will be daft if he is banned – however as a United fan I wouldn’t complain!

First Dell now Apple

AppleLast week Dell recalled 4.1m batteries for their laptops. The problem was because of overheating. There are some videos on YouTube of the battery exploding at some exhibition. The batteries are made by Sony and luckily for Dell, Sony are footing the bill. Apple have now recalled 1.8m batteries because if overheating. The batteries for the Apple machines are also made by Sony.

Not a good week or so for Sony (or Dell)

Ronaldo thanks fans

Ronaldo (and Rooney)Ronaldo has thanked the United fans for their support. He said “I wanted to thank them in a special way for all the support they have given me, particularly in this game here, and to tell them I am Manchester [United] through and through – in my heart and soul.”

Ronaldo is likely to be booed for the foreseeable future. I hope it continues since he seems to play better with the opposition fans booing him.

Everyones a United fan!

In other football news, Kevin Nolan has said he grew up a Liverpool fan but because his favourite players were Cantona and Sharpe he wanted United to do well. Everyone seems to be a United fan, first it was Gerrard who said he used to wear a Bryan Robson shirt, now Nolan.

Champions League draw

It was the Champions League draw today and it was a good draw for United. We should be able to beat all the teams. We play Benfica again so we will be able to get revenge for last season. I was half expecting us to get Bayern Munich – that would have been interesting especially if we bought Hargreves.

It was an easy draw for Arsenal. Liverpools group isnt is hard as Chelsea’s and they should get through it. Chelsea have got a very tough group. Barcelona play Chelsea again LOL. I think group B is pretty tough as well.

Here is the complete draw (top seeds in CAPITALS)

Group A
BARCELONA
Chelsea
Werder Bremen
Levski Sofia

Group B
INTER MILAN
Bayern Munich
Sporting Lisbon
Spartak Moscow

Group C
LIVERPOOL
PSV Eindhoven

Galatasaray

Group D

Shakhtar Donetsk

Group E

Dynamo Kiev

Group F

Ole Ole Ole Ole!!!

SolskjaerAnother great performance by United. We have now scored 8 goals in 2 games and it could easily have been more. United played Charlton last night and beat them 3-0. There were a couple great goals from Fletcher and Saha and it was absolutely fantastic for Ole to score. Its been 40 months since his last goal and so long out for with injury. His reaction after scoring was to bow to the crowd as if to say “I am not worthy”. An absolute legend. Everyone so happy for him. The United fans went mad. The whole bench errupted when he scored.

I’ve waited a long, long, long, long, long time for that,” he told MUTV. “To celebrate with the fans after scoring has been one of my aims over the last few years.”

“Maybe in my dreams it was at Old Trafford, but it doesn’t really matter.”

“You can’t really put into words the club’s support and the fans’ support,” he said.

“They’ve had patience with me and the Gaffer’s always been good with me, just telling me to take my time and in the end it’s paid off.”

Solskjaer

The whole team is playing well even the so-called fringe players like Fletcher and O’Shea. Giggs in fine form at the moment and was very unlucky not too score. Ronaldo coped well with the boos and it seems to make him play better. He was unlucky not to score as well. Park had a couple good chances but I think he needs some shooting practices.

We have so much pace in team – its like the United team of a few years ago before we starting trying to play Chelseas 4-3-3 formation. Will we miss Ruud? Saha may not score as many but has more pace and more mobile than Ruud. Fingers crossed his injury days are over. However I think it would be ideal if we get another striker. We need 4 top class strikers – we have Rooney, Saha and Ole. Smith may take some time to get back to full fitness and has been playing as midfielder recently. Rossi may take another year or 2 to come good.

I think we still need a defensive midfielder – no idea whats happening with the Hargreves situation but the transfer deadline is soon. May end up having to wait to January. Although its not obvious from the first 2 matches but will be more obvious against tougher teams.

To make things better Chelsea lost beaten by Boro. Boro beat them last season 3-0. Boro deserved the win. This could prompt other teams this season to really have a go at Chelsea.

In the City game v Portsmouth, City should have lost. Portsmouth should have had a penalty after a handball and Ben Thatcher should have been sent off after a shocking elbow on Mendes (who ended up in hospital). We came from miles away with no intension to tackle him and elbowed him violently and into the advertisement boards. He only received a yellow card. This is another really poor ref decision after the Giggs incident when Michael Brown should have been sent off for a 2 footed stamp. Mendes was left unconsious and had a fit. He had to stay in hospital overnight. Although he was already booked the FA could still charge him after video evidence. The police may also launch an investigation. If the FA look into the challenge, why not look into Browns tackle on Giggs in the game last weekend??? Luckily Giggs wasnt injured but the tackle was a bad one.

UPDATE: Mendes has been released from hospital but will have medical and neurological supervision over the next week before he can play again. Its not the first time Thatcher has been in trouble. He was sent off for a 2 footed tackle when he played for Wimbledon, he elbowed Nicky Summerbee a few years ago with a terrible elbow and in pre-season this year in China he elbowed a player which resulted in the player going to hospital with a collapsed lung!

R&R! / Gerrard – a disgrace!

Rooney and RonaldoIt was a good weekend of football for United. We beat Fulham 5-1. We were 4-0 up after about 20 minutes. We were amazing but Fulham were very poor. It was great to see United play like the old days with 2 out and out wingers with lots of pace. Ronaldo and Rooney linked up well and Rooney was involved in 4 of the goals. The game had a shocking tackle from the Fulham player Michael Brown who had a two footed stamp on Giggs. He could have easily broken his leg or done bad knee damage. He only received a yellow card for it. Some people are saying the FA cant do anything more about it since the ref already booked him but I think Essien was still banned for a bad tackle after receiving a yellow card. However I think the FA will do sweet F.A. If it was Rooney who did that tackle (or any other high profile player) the newspapers would have a field day!

Unfortunately he is now banned for 3 matches (along with Scholes) – thanks The FA. As a protest Rooney has apparently told the FA he will no longer be doing any PR stuff for them.

To make the weekend better Liverpool and Arsenal drew – Arsenal in particular were lucky to get a point out of the game. Unfortunately Chelsea won.

So apparently its Ok for Gerrard to dive. Gerrard won a penalty at the weekend when there was no contact. OK he lifted his leg abit but if he didnt lift his leg he would have got a penalty. The referee said there was no contact but intent?!?! If you look at it he went for the ball. If there was intent then should have got a card – a second yellow card. After Gerrard fell over he was shouting at the ref shouting for a penalty. Hmmmm – surely not good as gold Gerrard asking for a penalty!

HargrevesTransfer news – it looks now like Hargreves wont be coming to United. Its a shame since he would have been a very good player for us. Bayern have told him to forget about moving to United and said if he continues he will “… get very angry …”. Maybe he will get like Hulk. We wont like him when he gets angry! LOL There are rumours we may go for a striker now – we could go for Carlos Tevez who plays for Brazilian club Corinthians. He has said he wants to move to a European club, supports United and once wore a United shirt to a Corinthians press conference.

England v Greece

Crouch and TerryEngland played Greece tonight in a friendly. The game finished 4-0. The game wasnt a sell out with the stadium just over half full. However there were 45000 odd people in Old Trafford which is the most ever for a England fixture in August. The FA had to book the stadium months ago and of course were hoping it would have been a game between the Euro Champions and the World Cup winners. However it didnt work out like that.

England played a lot better overall (compared to the WC) especially in the first half. England’s current ‘favourite player’, Owen Hargreaves, was Man of the match. I thought Gerrard was close to MOTM. Ashley Cole made a couple goal line clearances – not quite as good as his miracle block in the WC versus Ecuador. The tactics were a lot better and no doubt having Venables as assistant manager helped.

We actually kept the ball which with Sven seemed to be a problem. It was also good to see Chris Kirkland play in the second half – he won his parents £10000. His Dad placed a bet about 12 years ago at 100/1 that he would play for England. The second half wasnt that great really and abit boring – however all the substitutions could be a reason for this.

One thing which was really annoying about the football last night was the BBC commentary – Mark Lawrenson and has stupid ‘jokes’. Ahhh!!! He doesnt commentate now – just say one-liners one after the other. While on the topic of the BBC coverage I just have to mention about Shearer. He was going on about how England need pace and Becks has lost some pace. Becks has never really had pace and his crossing ability meant he didnt need to beat players with pace. He said England need players like SWP and Lennon with loads of pace (although I dont seem to remember Italy having ‘fast wingers’). They also mentioned that Terry showed lots of passion kissing his armband when scoring etc as if Becks didnt. When Becks scored he showed tons of passion and always gave 100%. They also mentioned that if Becks was on pitch Lampard wouldnt have taken the freekick which led to the goal – are they saying Becks would have taken a bad freekick?? Its not as if Lamps did anything special – he just knocked the ball into the box to the 16 foot Crouch.

Greece were very poor especially in first half but you can only beat whats put on front of you. Also the weather helped – the Manchester rain was what England players are used to compared to the 100 degree heat we had in Germany. Next up are Andorra and Macedonia and then we have some decent opposition with games against Croatia in October and a friendly in Holland in November. We will see after those 2 matches if anything has really changed.

Why couldnt we play like this just over a month ago. It just shows what a difference a half decent manager with some tactics make. Also playing with a defensive midfielder helps a lot. Just look at Chelsea, without Makalele they are not the same team. it was also good to see that he didnt make 11 substitutions at half time ala Sven. (Although he is only allowed to make 6 now I think). We cant forget totally about Sven – apparently he is still being paid by the FA.

It looks more and more likely that we will sign Hargreaves this week – apparently for £13m. We offered £12m, but Bayern wanted £17m so there was a compremise. £13m is a lot of money but he is has proved to be a very very good player.

Veronica Mars

I have recently started watching Veronica Mars. Its on season 2 at the moment on TV here and I watched a couple episodes. It was advertised on the time so I thought I would check it out. I have got season 1 on DVD and have watched about half of it so far. If you dont know its basically about a girl who is student by day and private investigator by night.

It reminds me of one of my favourite shows ever – Buffy the vampire slayer – with its mix of drama and comedy. Of course it helps a lot with the star Kristen Bell looking extremely hot and cute.

I have made a wallpaper for my desktop of Kristen Bell. Here it is.
