Another great performance by United. We have now scored 8 goals in 2 games and it could easily have been more. United played Charlton last night and beat them 3-0. There were a couple great goals from Fletcher and Saha and it was absolutely fantastic for Ole to score. Its been 40 months since his last goal and so long out for with injury. His reaction after scoring was to bow to the crowd as if to say “I am not worthy”. An absolute legend. Everyone so happy for him. The United fans went mad. The whole bench errupted when he scored.
“I’ve waited a long, long, long, long, long time for that,” he told MUTV. “To celebrate with the fans after scoring has been one of my aims over the last few years.”
“Maybe in my dreams it was at Old Trafford, but it doesn’t really matter.”
“You can’t really put into words the club’s support and the fans’ support,” he said.
“They’ve had patience with me and the Gaffer’s always been good with me, just telling me to take my time and in the end it’s paid off.”

The whole team is playing well even the so-called fringe players like Fletcher and O’Shea. Giggs in fine form at the moment and was very unlucky not too score. Ronaldo coped well with the boos and it seems to make him play better. He was unlucky not to score as well. Park had a couple good chances but I think he needs some shooting practices.
We have so much pace in team – its like the United team of a few years ago before we starting trying to play Chelseas 4-3-3 formation. Will we miss Ruud? Saha may not score as many but has more pace and more mobile than Ruud. Fingers crossed his injury days are over. However I think it would be ideal if we get another striker. We need 4 top class strikers – we have Rooney, Saha and Ole. Smith may take some time to get back to full fitness and has been playing as midfielder recently. Rossi may take another year or 2 to come good.
I think we still need a defensive midfielder – no idea whats happening with the Hargreves situation but the transfer deadline is soon. May end up having to wait to January. Although its not obvious from the first 2 matches but will be more obvious against tougher teams.
To make things better Chelsea lost beaten by Boro. Boro beat them last season 3-0. Boro deserved the win. This could prompt other teams this season to really have a go at Chelsea.
In the City game v Portsmouth, City should have lost. Portsmouth should have had a penalty after a handball and Ben Thatcher should have been sent off after a shocking elbow on Mendes (who ended up in hospital). We came from miles away with no intension to tackle him and elbowed him violently and into the advertisement boards. He only received a yellow card. This is another really poor ref decision after the Giggs incident when Michael Brown should have been sent off for a 2 footed stamp. Mendes was left unconsious and had a fit. He had to stay in hospital overnight. Although he was already booked the FA could still charge him after video evidence. The police may also launch an investigation. If the FA look into the challenge, why not look into Browns tackle on Giggs in the game last weekend??? Luckily Giggs wasnt injured but the tackle was a bad one.
UPDATE: Mendes has been released from hospital but will have medical and neurological supervision over the next week before he can play again. Its not the first time Thatcher has been in trouble. He was sent off for a 2 footed tackle when he played for Wimbledon, he elbowed Nicky Summerbee a few years ago with a terrible elbow and in pre-season this year in China he elbowed a player which resulted in the player going to hospital with a collapsed lung!
