Football and F1

ScholesUnited beat Liverpool on Sunday 2-0. It was a good performance by United and without our best player of the season so far Ronaldo (slightly injured and ill apparently). However it helped a lot that Liverpool were really poor. Goals from Scholes in his 500th game for United and a well taken goal by Rio. We are now back at the top of the league ahead of Chelsea on goal difference.

Last ever race

In the Brazillian GP it was Schmacher’s last ever race. He had a really fast car but got a puncture in the 9th lap which ruined any chances of winning the championship. We still managed to finish 4th even though at some point he was around 19th and about 70 odd seconds behind the leaders. On his very last lap it looked like he was trying to get the fastest lap(beating his previous fastest lap). He wasnt quite quick enough. However Schmacher made a few good overtaking moves just to show that he can still do it. He is certainly the best driver I remember watching – I dont really remember Senna or Prost (just remember the odd clip). However his reputation is slightly tarnished by the negative things which come along with Schmacher.

One of the things the whole race will be remembered for is before the race Pele was there handing over some cup to Schmacher. Raikonnen wasnt bothered about all the fuss and was just by his car. Martin Brundle asked what he was doing and he said he was “having a sh*t”. LOL. Button did really well and finished 3rd. Since winning his first ever race in Turkey he is apparently the highest point scorer. He started in 14th because of problem with traction control in qualifying. If he didnt have any problems he could have been 2nd. Dont think he could have beaten Massa who was really fast.

Stop whinging!!

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

CechMy word – Chelsea really do like to whing! If its not Jose with his ridiculous statements its ‘Diving Drogba’.

‘Moan’rinho has claimed that the ambulance took 30 minutes to arrive after being called. Reading and also the ambulance service deny this and say it took 7 minutes from the moment they were called. Cech was taken to changing room and it was only then after a bit that Cech’s condition deteriated and the ambulance was called. Why would the ambulance service and Reading lie Jose??? It was a terrible thing what happened to Cech (and also Cudicini) but to have a go at everyone is just not appropriate.

Embarassing

A Reading MP has called Jose embarassing, saying he is argueing with facts.

Drogba, at the end of last season one of the most hated player with his diving, hand balling cheating, was doing well this season. Hes the in-form striker and wasnt moaning. Hes changed this now!! Having a go at Reading and the 2-3 seconds and claiming “I’m not the paranoid type, but it seems that everybody’s out to get Chelsea”. Wonder why?!?!? LOL

Drogba has said that the Cech injury was no accident. He said “Not at all. I’m also a forward and you don’t need to tell me that story. It was not an accident.”He clearly saw that he was going to hit Petr, who had the ball in his hands for two or three seconds and still he didn’t pull out his leg.”The worst is what happened afterwards. After he saw, like everybody else, Petr exiting on a stretcher, he began to laugh and act all arrogant.”

He can talk about people being arrogant!!! I think they need a stop watch at Chelsea so they know how long 2 or 3 seconds is. I have seen the replays and it isnt the case. Its not clear if he was laughing but I cant see a professional footballer laughing of kneeing someone in the head. The ball was in Cech’s hands for a fraction of a second.

Well thats my rant over!

You can have a look at the 2 tackles on the goalkeepers on Youtube.

One thing I didnt realise until I say that clips was that John Terry ended up in goal – how did he do?

Busy weekend

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

Had a busy weekend. Went to a friends house warming party and played poker and sang Singstar till the early hours of the next day. I had never played poker before (and still dont know the rules really!) but in my first game I was doing very well. I then lost it quite quickly though!

The Departed

I played football as usual the next day. It was busy with lots of people preparing for the 5 a side tournament next month. The team I was in won 2 and lost 2 so not bad I guess. Afterwards I met up with a couple friends and we watched The Departed. A great movie – its an American ‘version’ of the very popular chinese film Infernal Affairs. I think I have seen some of Infernal Affairs but didnt remember much of it. However since I dont understand cantonese that well it was harder to follow. I remember reading about the movie awhile ago how Brad Pitt was going to be doing it. However he didnt for reason or another and Leonardo DiCaprio did it. I not really a great fan of his after seeing Titanic and some of Aviator (got bored of that and turned it off) but he was really good. Actually the whole cast do a great job. Highly recommended movie to see.

Surf & Turf

Afterwards we went for a meal – took us awhile to decide where to go – we checked out the menus from various places and ended up in Revolution. We all had the Surf and Turf – Tempura prawns and steak – along with some nice chunky chips. It was very nice!

Football

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

SolskjaerA good win for United against Wigan. The first half wasnt that great but we played really well in the 2nd half. Rooney looks like hes back to form with some great passing and was unlucky not to score. It did help that Giggs was back from the 2nd half allowing Rooney to generally play more centrally. We ended up winning 3-1. It was also great for Ole to score again – thats now 5 goals already.

Chelsea managed to win – beating Reading 1-0. They didnt play that well and their one goal was a Lampard freekick. Surprise surprise it was a deflected goal – actually it deflected a couple times! A couple players were sent off including Mikel – the player who kindoff signed for United but then wanted to play for Chelsea. After being shown the red card he had abit of a tantrum LOL Grow up!! However the game will be remembered for the Chelsea goalkeepers getting knocked out. Cech was hit in the head by the Reading players knee – Jose has said that it was deliberate but Hunt (Reading player) says that he didnt mean it. Jose said he was holding onto the ball for about 3 seconds – looking at the clip again at was a fraction of a second. However it was a bad injury to Cech has has a fractured score and could be out for a year! If Hunt wanted to injure Cech he would have gone with his studs. Cudihino was also knocked out and actually swallowed his tongue. He will miss the Champions League game tonight but may be back at the weekend.

Stop moaning Jens

Jens Lehmann has being going on as he does about a keeper could end up dead or in a wheelchair if not protected properly. Its clear he doesnt like any players coming in contact with him. Does he want keepers to wear protection like American Football. Does he want football to become a non-contact sport!

There is an article in the Sun about Ole Solskjaer about how he thought he would never play football again. He has also said he appreciates football more now as every game or goal could be his last – as he gets towards the end of his career – hes now 33.
