Youtube videos of the week (ish)

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

There is a program on Sky One called Moment of Truth presented by Jerry Springer. It all started in the US. The idea is that you you ask a series of questions and if you tell the truth then you get more money. The amount of money you win increases but the questions are more “tricky”.

A woman was recently on who managed to ruin her marriage. Before the clip she is asked things like if she had stole money from work (she had) and that she would rather give food to a stray dog than a homeless person. In the clip you will see her saying stuff like she had slept with someone else other than her husband and basically thinks she married the wrong person!

Another video I heard about was from the US Wife Swap – one of the families was one of those Beauty Pageant families. It had the most spoiled kid in the world. She got a present every day (they have a Christmas tree up all year round!) – including one day a new car (shes not even old enough to drive), her mum does her homework for her, do everything for her. As the mum said What Alicia wants Alicia gets!!!…. Her parents are so to blame!! She has done pageants since she was 11 months old. Its terrible. For example her Dad says he would rather hire an attractive person then someone who wasnt but was smart. Her mum even says they “Lives around her daughter “busy” life”. FFS!!

NB – Try and stay calm and not hit the screen. Also be warned the mums makeup is scary – halloween scary!!

(On the subject of Wife Swap here another clip – of course from the American one!!)

I have no words to say!!!!

A good weekend

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Well the weekend is not quite over yet but decided to blog…

On Saturday I met up with a friend to watch a movie. Before the movie I was walking near the Church of Scientology place – going to cash machine. There was some sort of protest happening. Did some googling and found out more. There were quite a few ppl about with masks and some cars tooting horns etc.

We went to watch Vantage Point. A not bad movie – I will try not to ruin it but basically some big event happens and the movie shows the event from different ppls “vantage points”. Hence the name!!! :)

It was an interesting one as it showed the event for about 15 minutes and then it went back in time 23 minutes. Just when it started to get going it all kindoff stopped and all started again! There were some expected “twists”. Rating: 7/10

In the evening it was another friends birthday do. We went for a meal at Albert Shed and some drinks – we went to Dukes 92 and Baa Bar. The meal was quite nice – took some photos – it all was presented nicely. (Photos will be on Facebook at some point). Afterwards we went to Dukes 92 – it was raining and it was right next door. Its quite a nice bar/pub and we stayed for a drink. We then went to Deansgate Locks which was more lively. We ended up in Baa Bar and stayed till about 1am. It was a good night, pretty decent music.

Ronaldo and FletcherSport wise this weekend…… United won.. just!! 1-0 against Derby. Thanks Ronaldo!!! To make it better Arsenal only drew against Boro. (Chelsea won though). Its now really close at the top of the table and its going to be exciting!! I didnt manage to watch the game but have since watched the highlights. Foster did well, Ronaldo was pretty good, the rest of the team were just “OK”.

Pos | Team | Games Played | GD | Pts

1 | Man Utd | 29 | 44 | 67
2 | Arsenal | 30 | 36 | 67
3 | Chelsea | 29 | 31 | 64

It was the Australian Grand Prix early in the morning. The race has already happened but its on TV this afternoon. I have already heard the result … its difficult to avoid the result!

Champions League draw – you could almost predict it!!

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Fabragas and AlonsoThe Champions League quarter final draw was picked today. Its funny how things work out!

Here is the draw:

Champions League quarter-final draw:
1 Arsenal v Liverpool
2 AS Roma v Man Utd
3 Schalke 04 v FC Barcelona
4 Fenerbahce v Chelsea

Champions League semi-final draw:
1 Arsenal/Liverpool v Fenerbahce/Chelsea
2 Schalke/Barcelona v AS Roma/Man Utd

Once again Chelsea get the easiest possible draw. There are never “easy” games in Europe but on paper Fenerbahce are the weakest team. We face Roma (AGAIN!!!). We have done OK against them especially that 7-1 win!!! We have avoided the other English teams and if we win we are likely to face Barcelona. (However one step at a time!!). It also could be another Liverpool Chelsea semi final. It also looks like an English team will be in the final – I think that would be the 3rd time in 4 years. (However, one step at a time!!!!).

The John Lewis list

Friday, March 14th, 2008

CommonsDetails of how much MPs can claim are set to published. Exact details of what they can claim have been on various web sites including the BBC News web site. Most MPs can claim up to £23,000 a year towards the cost of a second home.

Thats tax payers money paying for an MPs 2nd home to buy things like carpets, air con units and even the interest on the mortgage! The full list is on the BBC News site but here are some:

Coffee maker/machine – £100.00
Hi-fi/stereo – £750.00
Installation of new kitchen – £10,000.00

I think this is ridiculous!! Surely they can spend our money better than expenses for MPs (who I think get around £100,000 year). I know they (mostly) do a good job etc but that money could go to things like health care, giving soldiers better equipment (and help when they get back!) etc… (MPs claimed nearly £11.5m in additional costs allowances last year).
