Whats happened to Ronaldinho?!?!

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Not that long ago Ronaldinho was the best player in the world with skills most people could not even dream of. However his form over the last couple years or so has dipped, in some way down to injury. However from various reports he seems to be more interested in off-field activities and for examples has put on weight.

Latest transfer news regarding him is that Manchester City have bid about £25m for him. Its been going on for awhile and it would still be good to see him in the Premier League. There is still a chance he could go to AC Milan (or maybe even Chelsea).

He was recently at a football free-kick exhibition/competition called Free Kick Masters 2008. He took a few freekicks and ALL of them were rubbish!! I think all of them missed the target. Check it out:

D’oh!!! Carlos is gone :(

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

Carlos Queiroz, United’s coach and Fergie’s right hand man has been appointed as manager of the Portugal national football team. He has signed a contract worth apparentally £1.5m.

Carlos was a big part of how United play recently and was important in the signings of various players (who played in Portugal) i.e. Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson. These 3 (or maybe 2!) are a big part of the future of United.

Does this mean Ronaldo is even less likely to stay??? Or maybe Carlos can tell him all out Real Madrid and why its not right for him. Carlos was manager for a year a couple years or so ago and it wasnt really a success.

In some other Ronaldo news its been all in the news about what Sepp Blatter (idiot!) said about Ronaldo and footballers and how they are “modern day slaves”. How can a footballer earning about £120,000 be called a slave. Its a very poor choice of words and other ppl in FIFA and in other football associations are saying the same. Apparently Ronaldo has agreed with Blatter?!?! (There is an article with various quotes and he had the chance to clarify what he meant etc but he didnt. However it was in The Sun so who knows how true it is???).  Football is the only world where a contract really means nothing!! Ronaldo for example has about 4 years left in his. The way Blatter is saying it is pretty much saying contracts are pointless (which to be honest we already know!!!).

Blatter (along with Platini) just dont seem to like English football.

Whats happening at United!!!?

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Its not been the best summer at United. Who’d of thought it after one of the best seasons winning the Premier League and Champions League and having the best player in the world in Ronaldo (and along the way scoring 42 goals in one season).

Since then, there has been the whole Ronaldo saga “will he wont he leave”. I dont need to go on about it as everything is bored of it all!! Also the next “wonderkid” Aaron Ramsey was signed by Arsenal - he was apparently signed by United and it was even on the official United web site saying it was just a matter of signing paperwork (or something like that). Anyway he ended up at Arsenal (may be the best team for him since Wenger has good reputation with getting most out of young players etc and at United not sure how much first team action he would get and we already have players like Anderson and Nani). It seems that one big factor was Wenger actually going to see Ramsey and meet in person when United just sent Gary Neville.

It now seems like Carlos Quieroz (United’s coach) will be leaving and become Portugal manager. He is a big part of the United management and has become a father figure for Ronaldo (with the whole Portugal connection). Also he takes control of a lot of the training sessions and apparently Fergie leaves a lot of it to Carlos.

£10,000 for a pointless eco sign!

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

I watched Top Gear the other day and they were talking about pointless road signs. They had some great signs including one which said “Sign not in use”. WHAT?!?!

They also mentioned about those “eco-signs” which have there own windmill and solar panel on it. It cost £10,000 of our money!! To make it worst is the fact that they have to have a normal sign next to it.

The best tennis match … EVER!!

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

I watched the Wimbledon final at the weekend (much like millions of other people) and witnessed properly the best tennis match ever. One of the best sporting events ever … the thing with tennis is that the game can very quickly change. One minute its one player in the advantage and then after one or two shots it can be the other player.

The game at the weekend with Federer v Nadal was amazing!! It was the longest final for one thing. It had everything. Tension, amazing shots, rain delays, darkness….

The standard of play was brilliant. It was amazing how the players managed such great shots under the pressure. The fourth set tie-breaker will properly be remembered as THE tie-breaker. It had 2 of the best shots of the tournament in 2 successive points.

I wanted Nadal to win, I suppose it would have been nice for Federer to win a record 6 Wimbledons in a row but just bored of him winning everything and Nadal is just more exciting to watch. Federer is still world no. 1 but this should change come the end of the year. The world rankings are determinded on the past 12 months results.

You can still watch the match on the iPlayer (until the weekend). Also you can see highlights etc on the BBC web site.
