Christmas 2008

Well Christmas 2008 is now all over and everyone is back to work. Over the Christmas period I had some work to do but still managed to host a Christmas party and go to a few “dos”.

Just before Christmas Day I had a small party for a few friends are we played some Buzz, some Singstar and some snacking and drinking. It was great fun!! On Christmas Eve I went to my aunties – its a tradition for everyone to go there on Christmas Eve. As you get older, Christmas doesnt seem as exciting. The youngest person amongst my cousins is 12 years old and even he wasnt that excited!!!

Christmas Day my Mum cooked lunch. A few days previous I went to M&S with her and got a lovely lamb. It was delicious. I made the potatoes using goose fat. I used the goose fat last year and to be honest they tasted nicer last year. I didnt plan it as well this year but I think I didnt use enough goose fat. Oh well. They were still nice and crispy and fluffy on the inside – just not quite as tasty as it could have been.

In the evening we all went (parents and brother) to my aunties. I got to play Guitar Hero World Tour – the drumming is quite hard – for me anyway!!! I mainly stuck to the guitar. For the evening meal we had turkey AND lamb. All very delicious.

The next few days I actually had to do some work but did pop to the Trafford Centre with my Mum – mainly to help her carry her bags!! Didnt do any shopping myself really which I ended up doing in the new year.

The day before New Year eve we all went to my aunties in the Birkenhead area for even more food. (All this food is why I have come up in spots!!) We played a couple games of Buzz (Mega quiz I think) but this time on the PS3. Its pretty much the same – just a bigger range in questions and slightly different features in the game. Pretty pleased as I won both games!! :)

New Years Eve was another family do. For the past few years I have been round to a friends but the original plans changed. I was thinking of doing my own party but was ill from around Christmas Day so couldnt be bothered organising anything. Maybe next year?? There was once again more delicious food and some more Singstar.

The start of 2009 was pretty much all spent just relaxing, I did check out some of the sales in Manchester but no real bargains. Today, (5th Jan) everyone is all back at work and I hit the gym for the first time in 2009. Its actually the first time for about 2 weeks!! Planning to go to the gym everyday this week and really get “stuck in”.

This year Christmas (and New Years) has all seemed a lot quieter. Its also been FREEZING!! I read somewhere that its going to be the coldest spell for more than 10 years. Just before Christmas Day and even Christmas Day were quite mild but from around Boxing Day and really on NYE it got really cold. Driving on NYE may wipers didnt work properly as they were frozen. The temperature for the week or so looks like being below zero.

Another thing about Christmas which I usually look forward to is the TV but this year I havent really watched anything. I have since managed to watch Wallace and Gromit which was brilliant but didnt watch Doctor Who, TOTP or the Queen’s Speech (OK, I dont normally watch the Queen’s Speech).

Anyway, hope everyone has a brilliant 2009!!
