completely agree – this is already causing long queues and accident risks (I would think there must have been at least one – I’ve alreadyhad a close miss with someone diving up the inside of me and cutting in front).
Is the southbound direction of Deansgate to be next for this treatment?
If a queue of straight ahead traffic is forced to wait behind a solitary car turning right, then at the very least there should be a delay on the lights, with a right turn filter light. Is this intended to push traffic onto the ring road/Trinity Way? Then that needs improving first, notably the Egerton St section between Mancunian Way and the lights at the end of Trinity Way.
What is the reason for this work, other than to cause more congestion than there need be? It’s no more sensible than the work on the A6 Crescent!
Why didn’t Manchester council promote this in local media before work started? Why don’t they come clean and explain the master plan now?
