Hamilton won with a great drive, Webber 2nd and Kubica showing what a good driver he is finishing 3rd. It was helped of course by Vettel taking out Button.

Button was in 2nd but stuggling for balance with damage to front wing. He was holding off Vettel well. However, Vettel made a silly move to overtake him. Went for the inside and then sharply turned to the outside which resulted in he sliding and crashing into Button. Vettel damaged front wing but Button was out.

It was not the only incident involving Vettel who seemed to be involved in all incidents! Vettel is clearly a talented driver and still very young but he crashes a lot and makes contact with other drivers an awful lot. Some people also say hes great when leading but when not at the front and he has to overtake people hes not that good. Unlike the likes of Hamilton, Alonso and Button hes not as good with the close “hand to hand” action.

2 horse race??

It was be interesting to see how the season pans out now. Is it now a 2 horse race?? There is still 6 races to go and thats 150 points. Ferrari will still go for it with Alonso but both McLaren and Red Bull have 2 drivers in the top 5 and the whole team orders issue. Will McLaren and Red Bull have to favour Hamilton and Webber now – even if they wont say it?? If it is a 2 horse race I hope Webber wins. Although Hamilton is British and should support him, I have never been the biggest Hamilton fan. Hes already won the championship and may well win more. Webber has never won it and this may be his last chance. He also comes across as a top bloke.

Things change quickly in F1 and a bad race for Hamilton/Webber and good one for Button/Vettel will change things again. Bring on Monza!!

PS – It was a real shame that Ruben’s 300th race ended with a DNF when he crashed into Alonso. He misjudged the wet conditions and sled into Alonso so was his fault but still a shame.

PPS – Note to BBC Sport. Your Formula 1 coverage is brilliant, love the F1 Forum with the extra coverage and interviews with drivers (once again Jenson Button gave a good interview – talking about getting the boxing gloves ready to face Vettel! ) but Jonathan Legard is rubbish. I am not the only one with so many people complaining about his commentating.

PPPS – Why was Massa not penalised for overshooting his grid place at the start??

The movie is trying to be a female version of Bourne Identity. Very short movie a only 1 and a half hours.

Angelina has been doing a lot of action roles recently. However, she runs in a funny way!! Never noticed it before.

Well I thought is was a good movie but just not brilliant. Its another movie which I think is over-rated. The previous one being Avatar. Lots of people are apparently confused and I have heard some people watch it twice or three times to try and understand it.

Now before I continue, if you havent watched Inception stop reading now as there will be some spoilers ahead.

Going back to how some people are confused. Its pretty much all explained in the movie what is happening. Basically a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream. The person who is the dreamer can be “in the dream”. I.e. this is why Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) was in the hotel and couldnt get into the “snow world” – was it the snow world??? As they go into another dream, the time is extended and slower (or faster??). Basically in the real world it may be 2 seconds, but in the dream world it will be an hour and then if someone dreams within a dream then it would be a bit longer e.g. 5 hours.

The movie had some nice special effects. Not many action scenes that were great apart from the zero gravity hotel hall fight.

Questions

However, there are a few questions un-answered. Not really crucial though:

** When they all woke up on the plane, why didnt Fisher recognise all the other people who were in his dream??
** How did Cobb find Saito in limbo?? Why is there a big age difference?
** Cobb said you cant touch or use someone elses totem. But he used his wife’s??
** In Yusuf’s dream the van is travelling through the city and falls off the bridge. This means in the hotel dream (Arthur’s), the gravity is all mess up. Why doesnt it effect Eame’s dream (the snow dream)??

And the BIG questions

** Did the totem stop spinning?? Christopher Nolan properly wants us to decide and think is he really in the real world or if the WHOLE thing was a dream!

Schumacher v Barrichello

However, the main talking point was the Schumacher v Barrichello incident. I am sure you have all seen it but basically Rubens was faster than Schumi and was catching for a few laps. Schumacher went wide on the last corner and Rubens got into slipstream and went to the right to pass. As he was next to Schumacher, he was “pushed” towards the wall and it was all very close and tight. Rubens was lucky the pit wall ended so he could go wider and had room to “escape”. If he hit the wall it would have been a big crash, if a car was exiting the pit lane it would have been a major incident!! Rubens was rightly angry and called for him to be black flagged.

After the race Schumacher said he gave him enough room and wanted him to go to the left. You can see in replays he was looking in mirror to the right. He knew what he was doing! Rubens was on the BBC F1 Forum afterwards talking about it. He talked about it and asked ppl on Twitter to let him know if he was right or was Schumacher right – who always calls him a bit of a “cry baby”. Schumacher has been given a 10 place grid penalty.

Lenient punishment

Personally I think he should be banned for a race at the very least. The fines/bans/punishment issued by the FIA seems very inconsistent! Three years ago McLaren were fined $100m for using Ferrari date. Then you look at just a week ago when Ferrari were fined just $100,000 for manipulating a race result. Back in 1997, Schumacher was thrown out of championship for crashing into someone. Hes now been given a 10 place grid penalty for what Rubens (most experience F1 driver in history) has described as “the most dangerous manoeuvre against me I have ever known”.

(Schumacher has since said sorry but his team boss has said he gave Rubens enough room). Maybe its a coincidence but the 2 drivers hes tried to “put into the wall” this season have been ex-teammates. Is that a factor??

Back to the actual race result and I am happy Webber won. (Once again Vettel has not converted a pole position into a race win). If Button doesnt win, I would rather a driver I like to win and thats Webber or Rubens. It was the worst race weekend for McLaren for awhile with a DNF for Lewis and Button finishing in 8th. The Red Bull car is just so much faster!! This track was almost the perfect track for them and it showed with them being about a second faster than anyone else!

Its not a mid-season break for F1 and back in a month in Spa. Can’t wait!

Free cases for everyone …. till end of September

The outcome of the conference was that Apple will be giving away free bumper cases. With the bumper case, people will not be able to touch the bottom left part of the phone which causes the drop in signal. This is a bit of a crude workaround. Its a design flaw with the phone and this was proved by Consumer Reports shortly before the conference. They proved just “holding it wrong” that the signal can drop on the phone. I did’t expect their to be a recall. Recalls are only normally if its something dangerous and the phone isn’t exploding so that was unlikely. Another reason of course is the cost it would have cost Apple. Also, if there was a recall it would have properly taken a few weeks for people to get their phone back. Phones are essentially to people nowadays so being without their phone for a few days would be bad never mind a few weeks.

Software issue

Apple’s earlier excuse that it was a software issue was a loud of rubbish. They claimed that the formula used to calculate the signal strength was wrong and that it could be reported the signal strength 2 bars stronger than it really was. Apparently the formula used was being used in all previous versions of the iPhone – strange how its only noticed now!!

Its not just Apple…..

Jobs also said that ALL phones suffer from a drop in signal strength if you block the antenna and hold it wrong. He then proved it with a few phones. I have not seen how he held it but it is strange how it is only when the iPhone 4 is out that people notice signal strength problems. So many phones have been out in the past and no major issues. RIM, HTC and Nokia have “blasted back” at Apple saying they don’t have issues with their phones and the signal. One of the phones he demoed losing the signal was the HTC Droid and how it lost signal if you blocked/touched antenna. Difference is the antenna is at the top of the phone – not the normal place you hold it when you use the phone! In PC World’s words, “Apple’s iPhone Defense Is Total Nonsense”.

Did Steve Jobs know about the problem??

Soon after the conference it was revealed that a senior engineer told Steve Jobs the iPhone 4 could suffer from antenna and signal problems. Did Jobs just ignore it?? Is that why Apple started doing their own cases – did they know this would happen??

Could this be the start of a “end” for Apple. I don’t mean they will be no more but will this iPhone 4 mess still a slowdown in its comparatively recent growth?? Is Apple losing its touch?? We will see….

Steve Jobs has said that the iPhone 4 is the most successful Apple product in its history and that means its a “success”. It may have sold tons but thats because of the success and satisfaction with previous iPhones and the whole “Apple fanboy/girl” thing” and how they just buy Apple products because its Apple and just because its an iPhone. Here is an example of a video I found amusing showing a “typical Apple iPhone fan” just wanting a iPhone because its an iPhone.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not one of those people who just doesnt buy Apple products because its Apple. I don’t like how you can’t just install software you want on iPhone – it has to be through iTunes. I don’t like how its all so expensive. However, they do make nice products and I have an iPhone 3GS which I love.

When I heard about the iPhone 4 months ago I was looking forward to it, working out when my contract ended etc. Maybe I should even pay the cancellation fee to get it ASAP. However, I will now be waiting to see what happens. Maybe even for the iPhone 5. (Or maybe by then a HTC phone??).

(Apple have a $100m Antenna Design and Testing Lab – maybe they should ask for some money back!)
