Here are some of my photos from the conference PHP Cruise.
Arrived in the US a couple days before the Cruise on Saturday 28th February. When getting to the hotel just checked out what was around the hotel. It had the usual hotels, restaurants, mini golf, tourist centres. With the jetlag went to sleep early. On Sunday just checked out International Drive - a lot of the shops were closed unfortunately.
The next day took the taxi and shuttle to the cruise ship at Port Canaveral. It took a while as it went from hotel to airport and then airport to the port. Some more queueing up going through various checks. Check out the ship and got some good. We then had a few talks and then had a welcome party. It was good fun and got to meet more of the ppl.
Tuesday - talks started early at 8am. A lot of information was given and took plenty of notes. Thankfully the presentations will be available online soon after the cruise so that will help. We also got Internet access finally so was able to check email and talk to ppl back home in cold England :) (It was a little slow but better than nothing!). Went to the meal in the dining room today which was OK - I had steak - met a few people there. (Pictures below somewhere). Also checked out the show which was .... ' entertaining' - I guess it was worth seeing one show on the ship but not really for me.
Wednesday - Had 4 talks in total today - one of them finished early so managed to go onto the island - Nassau - it was OK - quite Bahama like but also a little surprised it had places like Subway, Dunkin Donuts, Hard Rock Cafe etc. Had time to relax in the afternoon - it was really nice chatting online while in the sun on the cruise ship. Its around 26C (which is about 80F). Also went to the meal in the dining room again and had Duck. It was another late night ending up in one of the bars on the ship.
Thursday - A full day of talks today starting from 8am and finishing at about 7 ish. Its a full day at sea so we can't see a lot. Had the final keynote speech but unfortunately did not win anything. A bit later on we had the farewell party and went to the bars.
Friday - Finished packing and then went off the ship. Took the coach to the airport. Had lots of time to wait cause the check-in desk did not open for about 2 and a half hours. Bumped into a few people who were also waiting for planes. Plane trip home was OK - only slept for a couple hours and the movies were a bit rubbish. It looked really grey landing in Manchester.
Really tired at the weekend but got a fair amount of sleep. Still really tired on Monday at work. (Its horrible being back at work - Monday is normally bad enough).
I took over 300 photos but a lot of them were very similar. I have the pick of the bunch below. I had a real good time at the PHP Cruise and if nothing I have made some new friends including Mari, James, David, Clark, Peter and Jason.
If you want the full size version of any of these pictures, just email me. If you want any of these removed email me. If you know other people with photos from the PHP Cruise please tell me about it. Thanks
